When Looking For A Snoring Cure, Begin With Simplicity!
Charlie Clar
As a young man, I often equated the effectiveness of a "cure" or
"remedy" with its cost and sophistication.
Ways to quit snoring are a good example of this. The internet is
filled with costly products and procedures that peddle hope in the
guise of a laser or a scalpel or a pill or a spray.
Candidly, I have yet to find a snoring solution that works for
everyone all of the time! I therefore have concluded that the most
prudent course of action is to start with simple...and
inexpensive...snoring remedies to see what works for you.
For example, research clearly shows that the heavier a person is, the
more likely it is that he or she will snore. So it seems logical to
begin your quest for a snoring solution by carefully analyzing body
weight.
A few months ago I attended a seminar on a new surgical solution to
snoring. The presenter was a focused, intelligent, and witty M.D. The
fifty or so attendees were a diverse group except that forty were
clearly overweight.
It really bothered me that most of these people were ready to be
surgically altered without first simply going on a diet. And it
concerned me even more that the M.D. only mentioned weight loss in a
brief, passing comment.
Please understand. I have nothing against surgical options,
particularly for those diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. But I
do think we jump to complex solutions before considering simple
alternatives!
Being too heavy makes snoring worse because of the increased tissue
around the neck. Even people with thick necks or double chins snore
more. The extra tissue narrows the upper airway at the back of the
throat.
After losing over sixty pounds...and keeping it off... my snoring
lessened dramatically. If you or your bedmate or other family members
or friends are cursed with a snoring problem, consider starting with
weight loss! You can begin at the the following site:
