Tips for Fighting the Common Cold
Robin Nobles
During the winter season, almost every one of us succumbs to the
woes of the common cold. While pharmacies are full of medicines
to help you feel better, what else can busy moms do to keep their
children from missing school, or themselves from missing work, if
they come down with winter colds?
The first thing you need to do is get plenty of rest and sleep.
An overly tired body can't fight the vicious common cold.
Then, do what your grandmother would do and eat good old chicken
soup. Hot chicken soup "appears to possess an additional
substance for increasing the flow of nasal mucus."
Drink a lot of water to replace important fluids lost when you're
sick. Take hot baths to help clear congestion.
Stop smoking, since smoking can not only irritate the throat but
can also interfere with the infection-fighting activity that
helps get rid of bacteria from your throat and lungs.
Take vitamin C and zinc lozenges and develop a positive attitude
about your body's ability to heal itself.
All of these tips, and many more, can help a busy mom keep her
family going in the midst of the cold season, and they're
provided by Bharatnet.com Health, a site out of India.
